Here’s how I fared on Medium during the month of May 2023.
In short: I did better than the last couple of months. Not by a whole lot, but still, better.

May 2023 income & stats
Things went better than the last couple of months for sure, both in terms of earnings and follower growth.
Here’s a quick look at how things went:
- Stories published: 12
- Follower change: +100
- Net followers: 2,503
- Referred member change: 0
- Net referred members: 10
- Earnings from stories: $42.15
- Earnings from referred members: $24.19
- Total earnings: $66.34

Assumptions, expectations, and other thoughts
Sadly, I believe I only made more money in May because I wrote a couple of pretty toxic Medium-related articles. Basically, I was reacting to other writers who had expressed opinions I didn’t agree with.
Basically, a couple of toxic, meta Medium articles helped me make more money this month.
UGH!
This is one of the stories that took off:

I refuse to these types of toxic stories in the future for a few more bucks that I have no need for, so do not expect my earning streak to continue this month.
In fact, I expect things to be worse this month because I’ll most likely focus on growing my brand-new Medium blog.
Aside from that, I don’t have much more to add.
